ALOE VERA

Healing & Anti-inflammatory

This perennial succulent plant with its long flesh leaves, serrated edges and clear jelly like substance is considered native to the south west Arabian-peninsula and remains a timeless cosmetic ingredient. For thousands of years the healing and softening gel has been used as a skin treatment to heal, soothe and repair. Aloe Vera was even mention in the Ebers Papyrus in the 16th Century BC and in Pliny the Elder’s Natural History. In 1959 the USA FDA approved the use of AV products as an over-the-counter medication for healing burns on the skin.

Ever popular for conditions such as acne, rashes, irritations, psoriasis, burns and itchy skin, Aloe Vera provides an amazing amount of vitamins, (eg. A, C, E, B2, B12 and B6 – a natural pain suppressant), minerals (eg. zinc, selenium, magnesium), amino acids and anti-inflammatory hormones which help to reduce inflammation, fight free radicals, provide rapid relief and promote regeneration. Anti-fungal, antimicrobial, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory – this is an ancient but ever effective and reliable plant staple.
